At 12 weeks old, Eva was admitted to MercyOne Children's Hospital to be treated for RSV and Paraflu. A couple days later, she was diagnosed with Pneumonia, and was put on a ventilator. After less than a week in the PICU, they also found out Eva had a staph infection.
Just some of the treatment Eva received was respiratory support from a CPAP and nasal cannula, and a blood transfusion. After
2 weeks in the PICU, she was moved back to the pediatric unit to work on feedings, and was able to go home with her family on January 22nd!
Mom, Yoom, and Dad, Shonn, stayed at our MercyOne House with their son and were able to have some support from Grandma and Grandpa, who stayed with them as well. After 31 nights, the Surber family was able to go home, and we are so happy for them!
