Internships/Service Learning: We are accepting resumes for interns and service learning individuals for the Spring and Fall semesters of 2024. We have a Family Services & Program Management internship and an Event Planning & Marketing Internship for current college students. We also have a Service Learning program for juniors or seniors in High School.

 

FAMILY SERVICES INTERNSHIP

Assist House Manager and Volunteer Coordinator in day-to-day task for the organization

Duties: 

 

  • Welcome families, assist with check in procedure and make families feel at home.
  • Assist with House operations and upkeep.
  • Facilitate intake and documentation of donations.
  • Assist with managing day to day volunteer groups both at the House and events.

MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Assist with day-to-day PR, Marketing needs in the organization

Duties:

 

  • Fully support RMH PR strategy and executing it in the different phases
  • Assist on development of graphic and layouts
  • Updates pages on website to match current activities of the organization
  • Collaborate on different ideas for innovation of website and other social media
    opportunities
  • Draft monthly blog posts for Ronald McDonald House website
  • Strategize social media campaigns
  • Assist in House promotional activities
  • Seek photos & videos for social media posts
  • Assist on organization of social media/marketing calendar
  • Work on special projects as needed
  • Research and evaluate new technology and digital strategies

EVENT PLANNING INTERNSHIP

Assist Special Events Coordinator with day-to-day Event Planning needs in the organization

Duties:

 

  • Fully support RMH PR strategy and executing it in the different phases of event planning
  • Assist on organization of items needed for upcoming event(s) 
  • Assist with live and silent auction execution
  • Assist Special Events Coordinator in any additional needs before an event

SILVER CORD PROGRAM

High School students - are you looking for a great way to complete Silver Cord Hours? Complete your hours and help families at the same time by volunteering at RMHCCI!

Please note some important information:

 

  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Must be willing to help with welcoming families, assisting with House operation and
    upkeep.
  • Assist with intake and documentation of donations.
  • Assist with managing volunteer groups.
  • We ask that you volunteer on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

 

If you are interested in our Service Cord Program, please contact Maggie Siwinski at
maggie@rmhdesmoines.org and the send the following:

 

  • Name, age and email
  • How many hours you need for your silver cord.
  • You school name and the name of your contact of who is running your silver cord
    program (this might be a guidance counselor teacher)

 

SILVER CORD HOURS

If you are looking for just a few silver cord hours or you are under the age of 16, please check
out our individual or group volunteering sections and sign up for one of our opportunities.

Please note that if you are under the age of 15, you must have a parent or legal guardian with
you to supervise you. RMH policy is that we cannot have anyone under the age of 15
volunteer alone.
