In Memory of Jacy McAlexander

In memory of Jacy Riley McAlexander, 17, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 following his courageous battle with Ewing’s sarcoma.

Jacy attended South Central Calhoun High School and was a member of the class of 2019. Jacy was a member of the Logan Larks 4-H club, Calhoun County 4-H Council, and the State 4-H Council. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 94, and had recently completed his Eagle Scout project. At school, Jacy was involved in concert band, jazz band, golf, was a manager for the football and cross country teams, Rotary Interact, speech and plays, National Honor Society, and was elected as an officer for FFA.

Jacy lived life to the fullest and even through his illness found joy in many things. Some of his fondest memories are tailgating at ISU football games, and watching his team win the 2017 Liberty Bowl. He loved attending the Children’s Cancer Connection Camp, winning a state jazz band competition, canoeing the Boundary Waters with Scouts, hiking Machu Picchu with his mom, and fishing in the mountains with his cousins.

“This gift is to honor this young man who did so much for others. And for the (many) volunteers who provide assistance. Thank you.” -The Pennsylvania WIC Technical Team.

“It’s tough enough to see cancer take the life of an older individual but a young person, it is even harder. May gentle angels surround the family at this difficult time. Many prayers are being said for you!” -Judy Rasmussen

“Jacy was one of the strongest people I ever knew. His willingness to give to others, even when he was struggling himself is something I will always admire about him. His top priority was giving back to the Ronald McDonald House, which is why I chose to give in memory of him.” -Meghan Dietrich

“This gift is in honor of the great Jacy McAlexander. A young man who lived an amazing life and whose legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.” -Ashley Thomson
