GROUP/CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS

Volunteering with family, friends, or coworkers can be a great way to help the
families that are staying at the RMHC of Central Iowa. Whether you are seeking a
team-building experience, creating a learning opportunity for students, or
wanting a fun activity with your family and friends, we have lots of opportunities
for you to volunteer with your group.

When volunteering with your group, please note some House regulations:

  • Due to the size of our House, we ask that you keep your group to 10 people or less per
    activity.
  • All members must be 10 years of age or older, and individuals 18 years of age or older
must scan their driver’s license through our LobbyGuard.

OPPORTUNITIES

MEAL PROVIDERS: After a long day at the hospital our families look forward to a hot meal waiting for them. By coming into one of our Houses and cooking a meal for our families you can help relieve one more burden that our families have.

UTILIZING OUR VOLUNTEER KITCHEN: We have two volunteer kitchens where a group can come in and bake a sweet treat, make some to-go meals, make a savory snack, or help with our casserole club. This is great opportunity for a group of students coming in and wanting Silver Cord Hours or a group of coworkers who have VTO from their company.

HOUSE DECORATIONS: This is a great opportunity to help get the House ready for the holidays by donating holiday-themed gifts or decorating our House in a festive way. We are looking for door, window, and table decorations brighten up our House.

GIVING TREE VOLUNTEERS: Every year, our local McDonald's owners and operators place a holiday tree in each of their restaurants throughout Central Iowa. This is a great opportunity for larger groups (especially groups with kids) to volunteer and deliver to the House. This opportunity will take place outside of the House, as we often do not have space for larger groups to come in and make ornaments.

COLLECTING POP TABS: This is a great opportunity for groups to give back, and anyone can collect pop tabs. From families collecting their pop tabs to school children and communities coming together to collect pop tabs, it is a simple way to make a big difference.

WISH LIST DRIVE: We are always accepting donations at RMHC, and holding a wish list drive is a great way for your group to help the House. This is a great opportunity for groups of all ages, from school-age kids holding a drive at their school to coworkers collecting much needed items.
