Intern Spotlight: Cassidy Welch

Meet Cassidy! Cassidy is originally from Clive, Iowa. She currently attends Iowa State University and is double majoring in Child, Adult, and Family Services and Communication Studies. Fueled by a passion to help families, especially those with children facing medical obstacles, Cassidy pursues an awarding career in Non-Profit Management. She believes that her internship position with our house was perfect in helping her achieve her career goals.

Cassidy assisted with various responsibilities at the Ronald McDonald House during her semester internship.

“I assist with many responsibilities throughout the house. I maintain rooms, clean, sort donations, and oversee the front desk. I work with volunteers by assigning them areas of the house to clean and assist volunteers with meal preparation. Regarding families, I check them in and give them tours of the house. I assisted with a fundraiser with Hu Hot and created a donation event at Iowa State University before the holidays. Overall, I make sure volunteers and families are comfortable and enjoying their time at the house.”

When Cassidy isn’t saving the world at the Ronald McDonald House, she enjoys working out, watching Netflix, spending time with friends and family, and volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Iowa foundation. Cassidy loves being able to volunteer with more than one organization that assists children and families.

Cassidy is sad to leave the “behind the scenes” arena of the Ronald McDonald House, although she won’t be leaving us completely!

“I am so thankful for this experience! I learned so much and created many unforgettable memories. I look forward to becoming a regular volunteer!”

We are thankful for Cassidy’s amazing journey and we look forward to keeping her around as well.
